Governor of Chbar Morn City, decided to terminate Mr. Lak Buntim from his position.

Cambodia :  Hok Marady, Governor of Chbar Morn City, on May 21, 2021, decided to terminate Mr. Lak Buntim from his position as Deputy Director of Chbar Morn City Hall.The decision came after a well-known case where officials used their power with unjustified violence and destroyed properties of people trying to sell food in the streets.

Chbar Morn Governor Hok Marady told E-ARTS Cambodia that Lak Buntim was in charge of the security and order but used inappropriate measures towards people, that is why he was laid off. Road side near the base of Kampong Speu market bridge in Commercial Village, Sangkat Rokar Thom, Chbar Morn City, Kampong Speu Province.

The governor of Kampong Speu province does not support violent actions of officials on duty nor unprofessional and unethical behaviors that in this case had innocent people to scream to tears. Said Mr. Vy Samnag, The governor of Kampong Speu province.

The provincial governor urged all people who are engaged in selling on the street to listen to the instructions of the authorities to maintain public order to avoid anarchy caused by a small number of people.However, Hok Marady confirmed that the area was a no-go zone to prevent of Covid-19 spread in Chbar Morn.
